Architectural Masterpiece or Just an Odd Looking House?

So are these architectural Masterpieces or just plane odd looking houses? If you will ask me, I find it really odd looking. It is something I would be interested to see and maybe visit in a theme park. However, as an investor I would not buy anywhere near these houses.

It could pass as something very artistic but seeing something like these in your neighborhood is a bit too much. I remember when me and my husband were inspecting some houses to buy, we were choosing between two houses to make an offer. The first house really looked nice inside and outside too. The owner did a good job of renovating the house. It was spacious, had the right number of rooms and had a good size yard. The house was almost perfect. The second house was not as good as the first house. But, it was also a nice house in a well looked after neighborhood. The owner of the first house was more motivated to sell. She is giving us a good price.

So, did we end up buying the first house?

No, we didn’t. The first house is nice inside, but the view outside was irritating. The neighborhood is also new but I don’t think they have any conditions in place regarding the type of house that can be built in the area. Meaning, you can live right next to a very artistic person with an eccentric house similar to the ones above. I feel sorry for the owners of the first house. She exerted so much effort in renovating the house but it did not fetch the price that she wanted. In my opinion, the house across has something to do with it. The architecture of the house is ok except that it has a striking odd looking paint. The whole house is painted sky blue with royal navy blue accents. It has blue pot accents and two blue cars parked in front of it. Without a doubt, the owners favorite color is blue. The whole house is shouting blue! It stands out in the street. After going back several times to the house across it to make our final decision, the more we get irritated just seeing the blue house.

In the end, me and my husband realized we don’t want to live across an odd looking house. We want to enjoy the interiors of our house as much as we want to enjoy the view outside and feel of the neighborhood. After all, our house is our castle…we might as well choose an area where we will feel happy and comfortable.

Thus, for all of the would be investors and renovators out there…checking the neighborhood where you are buying is as important as checking the house you’re buying. If there is a need for you to renovate, make sure that it appeals to the majority. You can apply artistic touches to it that makes it unique, but make sure you don’t overdo it. It might end up too eccentric, slashing the percentage of your potential buyers to a minimum.
